Participantyou might notice that when posting the boobies i redid the URL that goes to the inspiration thread into a popping link. seemed easier that way.
Curious
Participantwell mine won’t have ken and the light’s gone for today so i can’t retake the ones i did. not all that happy with them. and by the time i get home tomorrow the light will be like it is now. and it’s forecast to rain. shoot.
waited too long to get started and then even longer to download them. optimism about what i had wasn’t justified. but of the eighty some exposures there may be three that can be entered.
and i couldn’t get the darned cat to cooperate at all. he wanted to play tag then hide and seek instead.
Curious
Participantwell if there are left over openings i’m in too. didn’t want to ask since i was so late to the game.
Curious
Participanthey i got my generic barbie at the flea market today. a good investment of a dollar. hope the weather is good tuesday so i can try the setup that’s planned.
Curious
Participantok it’s submitted, the boobies are posted, my stuff is posted as are others. quite a few others. looks like a big night tonight. back in a couple of hours.

ParticipantAll of a sudden it seems like there are only 12 hours in a day. I have so many things I want to photograph, but I can never get to those spots.
one more reason i love my yard. getting there is easy once i’m pried off the computer.
but i do know what you mean about favorites spots.. the gulf coast is one of mine and not only is it hammered still but it’s an hour one way.

Participanti reminded the folks in the PSAEF about the contest. got a couple of peoples attention. have my three ready. as usual they may not be great but i like them.

Participanthope i beat you posting this time 🙂
once you have a fark account and your image hosted somewhere go to the comments block at the bottom of the contest. type in this:
that will post your image into the thread/contest. also be sure to check the “enable voting” block before posting. and you might want to use the preview feature, just in case.

Participantwvsky go here http://imagehostadvisory.com/ to check out free (and not free) image hosts. also some folks use their ISP’s free hosting, some flicker (or however it’s spelled) and various other places. be sure to pick one that can take a high transfer though. you don’t want your picture to turn into a red X ten minutes into the contest.
if you right click the entries and look at properties you can see where folks host their stuff.
also see my comment on the next page.

ParticipantIf you’re ever back, let me know and we’ll get a beer or something.
ok, but don’t hold your breath. there is a large part of me that would rather remember it as it was.
veterans bvld in metairie could pass for what burnet road was. strip mall after strip mall. put down blindfolded then unmasked you wouldn’t know where you were. unfortunately that is happening around here now. and by here i mean on the northshore. and it just is getting worse since the influx of people post katrina.
but the bats still fly out at dark from the congress avenue bridge so all is well.

Participantschnne yeah i know. it’s in (or is) your location. but you have literally ten time the folks there now than i did. moved to austin dec. ’69 and lived on the lake just about a mile downstream from lake travis. got all that really cold water from the bottom of the dam. it barely turned over before reaching our docks. moved from the lake to jollyville rd (old hwy 183) about 2 miles north of burnet road in spring of ’74. bought a house on payne in spring of ’76 and left there the spring of ’78 to move down here.
jeez, just looked at google earth. lord has that area changed. there’s a business park about where i used to live. and highways and freeways everywhere. mopac was still a dream when i left. worked for glastron boat co. from feb ’70 – oct ’75. spent a lot of time out around webberville and the surrounding areas.

ParticipantAlso, I don’t know about anybody else, but
I don’t vote until Thursday. Thanks Curious, and I liked that shot of yours too. Good thing you found it!
i wait to vote also.
and thanks. once in a while i post stuff that i really like and this is one of them. it’s not great art but it does have a lot of good memories associated with it. i’m glad others like it.
Curious
Participantbtw, Curious, I loved your shot
thanks, brings back fond memories of wandering the hill country and then time in the darkroom.
re greenlight time, i’m thinking that will get more consistent as all the Fark admins get on board. i.e. Drew spreads the word.

Participantglad your back is better GalleyWench
and happy birthday to you and Morningbreathit’s 9:16 AM here and there are 95 “comments” in the contest. and a lot are indeed comments. but the voting seems to be running in the same numbers as other contests. ergo the theme was tough for a lot of people to do. or they weren’t inspired. glad the time got fixed since that took a variable out.
personally i wasn’t. i knew that old picture was somewhere in my files and glad to find it. and my other ideas involved buying props which seemed kind of silly in the final analysis.

Participantstaplermofo here’s the page for the camera http://www.kodak.com/eknec/PageQuerier.jhtml?pq-path=2/3/9/1026/1036&pq-locale=en_US but they don’t tell you squat. either there or in their FAQ’s. it looks like simply wind, point, shot, pray. they do recommend outdoors use. and in case your planning an underwater shot don’t go too deep, you lose light (from the FAQ’s)
and if it’s any consolation i get complaints about my printing let alone my writing.
